What was the date 2 months ago?

Solution

Sunday May 11, 2025

2 months before today was 11 May 2025, a Sunday. Subtracting 2 months in the past is usually just counting from July; however, longer calculations will push us from 2025 into 2024 or further. Even if the calculation remains within the year, I usually take note of the 11 days left in the middle of July to prep for an additional calculation before June. But that’s all there is to it - understand the month, if 2 months will change the year, season, or fiscal calendar, and subtract your dates.

How we calculated 2 months before today

All of our day calculators are measured and QA'd by our engineer. Read more about the Git process here. But here's how 2 months ago gets calculated on each visit:

  1. We started with date inputs: used current day of 11 Jul, then set the calculation - 2 months, and factored in the year 2025
  2. Noted your current time of year: 2 months in July will keep us in July and we don’t need to worry about adjusting months or years.
  3. Counted backwards months from current day: date - 11 Jul, factoring in the 11 days left in July to calculate Sunday May 11, 2025
  4. Did NOT factor in workdays: In this calculation, we kept weekend. See below for just workdays or the fiscal calendar

Tips when solving for May 11

  • Current date: 11 Jul
  • Day of the week: Sunday
  • New Date: Sunday May 11, 2025
  • New Date Day of the week: Sunday
  • Counting backward from May could put you back in Q1 or even the previous year.
  • This calculation crosses at least one month. Remeber, this will change our day of the week.

Ways to calculate 2 months ago

  1. Calculate it: Start with a time ago calculator. 2 months is easiest solved on a calculator. For ours, we've already factored in the 11 days in July + all number of days in each month and the number of days in . Simply add your months and choose the length of time, then click "calculate". This calculation does not factor in workdays or holidays (see below!).
  2. Use July's calendar: Begin by identifying 11 Jul on a calendar, note that it’s Sunday, and the total days in June (trust me, you’ll need this for smaller calculations) and days until last year (double trust me, you'll need this for larger calculations). From there, count backwards 2 times months by months, subtracting months from until your remainder of months is 0.
  3. Use excel: For more complex months calculations or if you h8 our site (kidding), I use Excel functions like =TODAY()-2 to get or =WORKDAY(TODAY()), -2, cell:cell) for working months.

Working months in 2 calendar months

2 months is Sunday May 11, 2025 or could be if you only want workdays. This calculation takes 2 months and only subtracts by the number of workdays in a week. Remember, removing the weekend from our calculation will drastically change our original Sunday May 11, 2025 date.
