What's the date 8 weeks from today?

Solution

Thursday June 20, 2024

8 weeks from today will be 20 Jun 2024, a Thursday. When planning across a month or multiple months, we must account for the 30 days in April. We’re 10 days from the end of April, so being in the middle of the month, adding multiple weeks will put us into the middle of of May and potentially into the next quarter.

How we calculated 8 weeks from today

All of our day calculators are measured and QA'd by our engineer. Read more about the Git process here. But here's how adding 8 weeks to today's date gets calculated on each visit:

  • Started with date inputs: starting point: 25 Apr, Units to add: 8 weeks, and year: 2024
  • Noted your current time of year: 8 weeks in middle of April will remain in April and we don’t need to worry about adjusting months or years. (Or far beyond).
  • Added 8 weeks from current day: 25 Apr, factoring in there are 10 weeks left in before May
  • Did NOT factor in workdays: In this calculation, we kept weekend. See below for just workdays or the 2024 fiscal calendar.

Tips to get your solution: June 20

Thursday Thursday June 20, 2024 is the 172 day of the year or 47.12% through 2024.

  • Current date: 25 Apr
  • Day of the week: Thursday
  • New Date: Thursday June 20, 2024
  • New Date Day of the week: Thursday
  • April is the start of Q2. Counting dates from here will push you further into the fiscal year. (And taxes are due)
  • This calculation crosses at least one month. Remeber, this will change our day of the week.

Ways to calculate 8 weeks from today

  1. Just calculate it: Start with a time from today calculator. 8 weeks is easiest solved on a calculator. For ours, we've already factored in the days in + all number of days in each month and the number of days in 2024. Simply add your weeks and choose the length of time, then click "calculate". This calculation does not factor in workdays or holidays (see below!).
  2. Use April's calendar: Begin by identifying on a calendar, note that it’s Thursday, and the total days in May (trust me, you’ll need this for smaller calculations) and days until next year (double trust me, you'll need this for larger calculations). From there, count forward 8 times by weeks, adding weeks from 25 Apr.
  3. Use Excel: Regardless of unit type, I use day calculations here. Type =TODAY()+8 into the cell. If you want to add weeks, multiply your day by 7 and months/years will take their own calculation due to the changing days of the week. To find 8 weeks workdays, convert to days but use =WORKDAY(TODAY(), [number of days], [holidays]) into the cell. [number of days] is how many working days you want to add, and [holidays] is an optional range of cells that contain dates of holidays to exclude.

8 working weeks from today

8 weeks is Thursday June 20, 2024 or could be Friday July 12, 2024 if you only want workdays. This calculation takes 8 weeks and only adds by the number of workdays in a week. Remember, removing the weekend from our calculation will drastically change our original Thursday June 20, 2024 date.
