What was the date 19 weeks ago?

Solution

Friday January 05, 2024

19 weeks ago from today was 05 Jan 2024, a Friday. We’re now subtracting quarters of the year. This means 19 weeks from 17 May changes fiscal calendars and could even push us into previous years. We’re currently in middle of May with 17 days left; this will bring us back to April or further. When I calculate backwards for larger weeks before today, I like to start by subtracting the days, then count backwards to find the correct weeks.

How we calculated 19 weeks before today

All of our day calculators are measured and QA'd by our engineer. Read more about the Git process here. But here's how 19 weeks ago gets calculated on each visit:

  1. We started with date inputs: used current day of 17 May, then set the calculation - 19 weeks, and factored in the year 2024
  2. Noted your current time of year: 19 weeks in May will bring us back to April or further.
  3. Counted backwards weeks from current day: date - 17 May, factoring in the 17 days left in May to calculate Friday January 05, 2024
  4. Did NOT factor in workdays: In this calculation, we kept weekend. See below for just workdays or the fiscal calendar

Tips when solving for January 05

  • Current date: 17 May
  • Day of the week: Friday
  • New Date: Friday January 05, 2024
  • New Date Day of the week: Friday
  • Counting back form January will put you close, if not passed, the previous year.
  • This calculation crosses at least one month. Remeber, this will change our day of the week.
  • Your date will be a weekend. Consider if you only want workdays in your calculation.

Ways to calculate 19 weeks ago

  1. Calculate it: Start with a time ago calculator. 19 weeks is easiest solved on a calculator. For ours, we've already factored in the 17 days in May + all number of days in each month and the number of days in . Simply add your weeks and choose the length of time, then click "calculate". This calculation does not factor in workdays or holidays (see below!).
  2. Use May's calendar: Begin by identifying 17 May on a calendar, note that it’s Friday, and the total days in April (trust me, you’ll need this for smaller calculations) and days until last year (double trust me, you'll need this for larger calculations). From there, count backwards 19 times weeks by weeks, subtracting weeks from until your remainder of weeks is 0.
  3. Use excel: For more complex weeks calculations or if you h8 our site (kidding), I use Excel functions like =TODAY()-19 to get or =WORKDAY(TODAY()), -19, cell:cell) for working weeks.

Working weeks in 19 calendar weeks

19 weeks is Friday January 05, 2024 or could be if you only want workdays. This calculation takes 19 weeks and only subtracts by the number of workdays in a week. Remember, removing the weekend from our calculation will drastically change our original Friday January 05, 2024 date.
